Faro di Capo Gallo is an abandoned lighthouse standing at the bottom of a dramatic rock, overlooking the sea. A ride to the lighthouse will offer you scenic views all the way and the chance to observe some typical Mediterranean flora. It’s all about the journey, not the destination.
Don’t forget to pack some fresh water and wear hiking shoes, sunglasses and whatever head cover suits you.
You can also reach the lighthouse by bicycle or by motorbike.
I’ve seen people going there by car, yet I won’t recommend as the road is narrow and half of the pleasure will be lost.
Shortly after leaving Piazza Mondello you’ll enter the Capo Gallo Natural Reserve, so you have to pay one Euro. It’s going to be a very well spent Euro, don’t worry!

Before we arrived to Mondello, I walked with google maps first to this place but I have to say...going by yourself there and see everything with your own eyes, doesn't compare to any picture you see on the internet. Make sure you go early in the morning so it doesn't get very hot if you want to stay and take a bath or just enjoy the view from a bench. Don't forget to bring water with you: you'll really need it after walking for half an hour. There is a small beach between the rocks at some point, it's very small and even it's not known by everyone, it gets crowded during the day. Near it, after 11 or 12 AM we found a man selling water and sandwiches there so if you forgot to bring water(as we did) this is a big thing. I don't know if he is there everyday, so it's better to bring your own food and drinks because the road back could be difficult giving the fact it's a natural reservation and no shops are allowed and no big trees for shade. The tax to enter into the reservation to see the Faro di Capo Gallo is 1 euro per person but you also can enter with your bicycle or with your car and it's a bit more expensive (like 4 euro or something).

The natural reserve where the Faro is located is beatiful. Along the way there are several places to go in the sea. Just one place with a small sandy beach. The rest you have to make your own way on the rocks.
Takes some good hiking shoes and walk all the way to the end of the path. The views are more than worth it.

A very peaceful and beautiful walk up to the lighthouse. There's a very small fee to get into the park, but the views and the ocean are very worth it. Once you get to the lighthouse you can't go any further, but there are interesting buildings on the way.
It's around a 15 minute walk from the sea front, and another 15-20 to get to the lighthouse. We went in a late afternoon, there's no shade so avoid the middle of the day!

This place was a bit more far away than we expected, but walking was really nice - some single small villas on the way, and quiet sea view. In reality Faro is demolished old building with closed gates.

Worth a while if you like a quite area for a stroll but Very limited for sunbathing and access to the sea. Watch out for strange all male naturists , who can be intimidating ??

We saw it from the sea during a boat trip. According to our host, there is walk-path from Mondello to here. It should be good walking trip on a colder day.

This is a nice easy walk in the nature reserve with great views.
There is not much to see at the lighthouse though - it is derelict and locked up. Our local host informed us that an 'eccentric' local artist now lives i.e. squats in the lighthouse so if you choose to venture inside just be careful and show the guy some respect.
Didn't see anyone in the nudist zone and I remained fully clothed at all times. There is not much to it, just a few boundaries marking sprayed on the rocks. There were other hikers around though.
Also very sunny during the afternoon, no shade at all so keep that in mind when hiking.

Cycling up to the lighthouse, there were beautiful views. The lighthouse itself was derelict and a bit spooky! There was noone around so I wouldn't go up there alone. A good path to cycle along.
