MONA, the Museum of Nebraska Art, in Kearney NE is a wonderful, free art gem on the Platte River. The building itself is a turn of the 20th century Federal Post Office that has been tastefully expanded. It is not a large facility but has a nice collection of art created in Nebraska or by Nebraskans. The two current spring... More

We enjoyed our visit and the staff was friendly. The museum gave us a nice glimpse at the local culture. Not a lot of paintings mostly lithographs, but we enjoyed them all the same. It was a fun change of pace and free. It's my understanding they rotate exhibits, so we plan to revisit the next time we travel through.

We stopped in based on an advertisement about a fund raising event-stopped at a wool display and bought dryer "balls." They are great. But we really enjoyed the artistic displays in the museum. Especially the puppet room-lots of history in this room.

The art exhibits in MONA are changed frequently so repeat visits are highly recommended. The building is a former U.S. Post Office with a lot of marble.

I enjoyed this visit. Lots of eclectic artist and exhibits and as this was my second visit (about 1 year) there were new things to see.

The artists works displayed here are either born in Nebraska, lived in Nebraska, studied in Nebraska, or their art is about Nebraska. I actually work here and enjoy the displays. There is a nice Gift Shop that is run by volunteers. The items in there are mostly from local artists.

This was a great place to kill some time while we were in Kearney. My son and I stopped here and enjoyed the Nebraska art and sculptures. It is free of charge and is a hidden treasure in the downtown area. I really loved the art with the pictures of women from the 1800s. I do not know much about... More

Excellent museum of Nebraska art. Artists have Nebraska ties, either travelling through, residence, or birth. Various galleries, changing exhibits. I stop by every few months to view "what's new!" Never disappointed.

Loved the architecture of the the museum. It is worth the stop alone. Some really nice Nebraska art. Of course the main display changes from time to time. Would stop again. Beats classic cars and the ARCH.
