Take a guided tour which is completely worth it! You can jump in or out of tour group at any time and they give you a lot of background information. Make sure to visit the entire floor of collectible toys. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking and stairs.

This museum is not easy to find, and the schedule of open hours is erratic, but it is definitely worth the time. Plan to spend hours here, the collections are vast and fascinating. The exhibits tell the tale of American auto racing, including every aspect from amateur to professional. Displays include rare race cars, rooms full of shiny experimental engines,... More

Thank You for your review. Although we are located in an industrial area we are only 1 block off of US Hwy 6 AND 3 blocks south of US Hwy 34 (O Street) and a smart phone with GPS will put you at our front door. Ours hours remain the same from October through May, being Mondays and Fridays 12:00... More

The museum has an interesting collection of old race cars(including some actual Indy cars), Model T vintages cars, custom hot rods, and pedal cars(!). It also had a couple land speed record cars. To really appreciate everything that you see, it helps a lot to go when they have docents giving tours (Friday afternoon at 1 during the time of... More

Gareld, Thanks for taking the time to give us a nice review. We disagree with your statement about not catering to the handicapped. We have parking directly in front of the museum in a turn-about that is about 5 feet from a handi-cap accessible door that can handle any type of chair or cart. The door has a ramp leading... More

If you're into cars, and even if you're not, the Museum of American Speed is an interesting and educational museum with a huge array of things to see. It's easy to walk about the exhibits and the volunteers are friendly. The best part for me was talking to the volunteers and learning about the history of the cars on exhibit.... More

Steve M, Thanks for the review! Glad that enjoyed our pedal car display along with the soap box derby cars. Your comment about being a "Hidden Gem for Car Buffs" is something that we are trying to change. We want the world to know we are here and we have a lot of things to see for those that are... More

This is a great racing museum but it is so much more! It's huge. I wish I had more time. I loved the 'minatures'. Remember those great little pedal cars you'd ride in as a kid? There is an amazing display of these as well taking up an entire floor. Well worth the admission.

We are glad that you enjoyed your visit and that you took the time to give us a Tripadvisor review. We do want our prospective quests to know that although we do have a world class collection of racing memorabilia we also have a lot of artifacts that appeal to people that are not gear-heads. Your mention of our pedal... More

Great display of auto history. Model A history with complete engine history and speed enhancements. Anything and everything from pedal cars to Salt Flats speed cars. More engines than a person knew existed. Loved it. Wife even enjoyed it. Richard N.
