excellent if you are a train buff with enough interest to keep you entertained & informed if you are not. There is plenty of human interest stories. Excellently run by volunteers. Nice & cool with excellent rest rooms.

If you have any interest in trains or the supply line of goods this is a must see. The Golden Spike is a tower 95 feet from the ground where you can watch the operation of sorting the cars for their destinations. There is a guide cadre of retired railroad workers who are up in the tower to answer questions... More

The rail yard was a really cool place to visit, and young children would really enjoy it! Trains travel through quite often.

Had it not been for the development of railways it is doubtful if the Continental United States would spread from coast to coast as it does. Apart from the north-eastern corridor and a few commuter routes, there is no real passenger service available nowadays, but the US still depends heavily on the huge quantities if freight moved on the rail... The Bailey a Yard was fascinating. It is the world's largest rail distribution center and we could see train cars rolling down different tracks, waiting for their engine to pick them up. The viewing tower gave us a great picture of the yard and the docent was friendly and knowledgeable.

It's a switching yard for the Union Pacific, If you're interested in trains then here is the place for you. You can watch thousands of car and engines get "switched" daily as they continue on their merry way to parts unknown.
