We mainly stopped because Ogallala is mentioned in Lonesome Dove...;) My husband and I like history, so this place was interesting to us. It was difficult to find, and we actually drove past it and had to come back. But it was a neat little side trip...glad we stopped.

I just recently visited this site in Ogallala after reading several reviews. It was a nice diversion from today's world. Climbed the steps after reading some pamphlets below. It was a sunny day, but the cemetery was very stark and windy. I realize it is a restoration and most of the remains have been moved, but it is still impressive... More

Although a bit difficult to find, there is no true address and located in a residential area, it was worth the visit. You have to climb a long set of steep stairs to get to the actual cemetery but it is worth it when you get to it. Interesting history and grave markers. A good history lesson for adults and... More

This was an afternoon visit when we needed a break in a road trip. We had already stopped in town for gas and wanted to stretch our legs a bit, saw the cemetery on our Google map, and said, "Why not?" Signage and a free leaflet give background to the cemetery (surprisingly across the street from a housing tract), and... More

If you like the old west. The cattle drive age. This is a must stop. Get off the interstate and walk through the old west.

Located on a residential street. Interesting reading about the cemetery, but only a quick stop. Not as large as I thought. Still worth a stop.

When you arrive here you can park on the street in front of the cemetery. It is in a residential area and doesn't have a parking lot. Then you can read the information located on the bottom of the hill about the area and cemetery. There are some very good informational Boot Hill Cemetery guides available for you to take... More

Park the traveling vehicle, walk up the steps to top of the hill, and enjoy the view. Read the title on tomb stones to obtain a sense of justice in the olden days. Think of towns folk gathering for a hanging to see justice carried out.

OK so there are no actual bodies still there. But it was still worth a ten-minute roadside stop and a quick walk up the hill. I enjoyed reading the history on the sign out front.
