Spectacular, scenic cluster of high rocks with the elements of the pagoda linked by dizzying steps and bridges. Allow plenty of time to explore the various stairways and to pause at each pinnacle to look back at the changing view. Right next to the town centre. Well worth the 500 Kyat fee for taking in a small camera. Avoid the midday heat unless the soles of your feet are asbestos.

The pagoda is built on a steep outcropping and provides superb views of the low-lying town of Loikaw and the surrounding countryside. It is well worth a visit. There is an elevator if you don't want to walk up the many stairs.

This is a must visit place to go when you are in Loikaw. Loikaw is a quiet peaceful town with little traffic. The pagoda is located on a so-call broken mountain which is actually a series huge rock formation linked by bridges. When we were there the lift is under rmaintenance. So we have to take a long flight of steps to reach the top. Good time to visit is either morning or evening where you can view the sunrise or sunset. It is the highest point in Loikaw town. In the evening the pagoda is lighted up. However do come before 9pm as the light were switched.

I went to this pagoda at 6 pm hoping for sunset. Its realy close to my motel at Kayan Golden Sky motel, only by walking distance. It becomes more beautiful at night when all lamp is switch on.
I sit at the top of pagoda to enjoy Loikaw's scenary at night. A lot of lokal people visit this pagoda too, for praying and enjoying the view.

The Taung Kwe pagoda is located on the top of a lime stone hill on the Mingalar Thiri Mountain. Towering above the town it is a spectacular sight especially at night when it is lit up. It is worth a visit because of the panoramic view it offers over Loikaw especially during sunset.

before you take the elevator to go to the TOP... check out the large tree where you will find two Long Neck ladies, ( don't miss them ) once you reached the top take a toll around the Pagoda, remember it is a secret Buddha sight you have to take your shoes off too. It is very peaceful up here, on a clear day you will be rewarded with great views of Loikaw and the surrounding areas. It is certainly worthwhile to visit here. Enjoy...

This is just 5 mins walking distance from our hotel - Kayan golden sky hotel. We just want to see it closer as I didnt wear proper clothes to go up there. But when we arrived, we saw a car full of tribes just arrived to go up the pagoda. And I am also lucky to see a rainbow across the pagoda.

This pagoda main attraction within the town of Loikaw. You have to transverse a number of stairs in bare feet to get to top, but offers nice views of the city and interesting pagodas sitting at different levels on the hilltop.
