If you are in the Tahoe area and want to see some local history this museum is a must-visit destination. It is partially housed in the historic old mint building in downtown Carson City and the exhibits on coinage are first rate, much better than I imagined. There is a recreation of a mine on the lower level that is... More

Lots of interesting exhibits related to Nevada's pre-state days, through present. The model old town and mine are interesting to go through. Wish there was more about the old mint (it's building is part of the museum). The die press exhibit in the mint has been posted as broken for over two years. Other exhibits change from time to time... More

Brought a group of Cub Scouts for a Nevada history tour. The guides were very good at holding the kids' attention and explaining the exhibits. The coin press demonstration was especially interesting..

As a former National Park Service Ranger and historian, I found this museum to be exceptional in its contents and the way they're presented. The mining exhibit alone would be worth the small price of admission - visitors descend into a "mine" which has accurate exhibits of the work done there and the technology used. There are also excellent art,... More

Do not miss this while you are visiting Carson City. It shows the reason for the mint as well as other historical stories. Be sure to allow time to visit the coin shop across the street from the mint.

All Nevada's history is fantastic. Seeing a mine in the basement is really neat for the kids. The coin and gun collections is great!

Well planned and arranged museum covering all aspects of Nevada history and lore. Includes pre-history to the present. Something for everyone - history, mining/geology, natural history, minting money, Native Americans etc. Nothing left out and can be covered in a few hours.

We found ourselves in Carson city with a few hours to kill and thought we'd check out this museum. What a fantastic payoff! There were a lot of great exhibits packed into that space. We learned quite a bit about Nevada's history, there was a little something for a variety of interests, we can't recommend it enough!

While visiting friends in Carson City we visited this museum that is in the old Carson City mint. I make it a point to visit the local museum where ever and when ever I can. That this one is in the old mint made it even more interesting to me. Of paticular note is the mining display in the basement.... More
