This park will not be confused with other more elaborate historic parks but it is an interesting visit and the state has done a good job of creating a nice area.

In the early days Nevada was hardly friendly to get through. Rough terrain. Sparse vegetation and you are either on a hill or getting to one, every time you look around. I love it, and the high desert draws me. Modern man is too soft to have survived what these incredibly durable people put up with and conquered through sheer... More

Stopped in while my wife and I visited Genoa. The place was full of history. To see how the settlers had to struggle across the Nevada desert was very interesting. There is a dollar a person charge to enter. The building itself is very small. It didn't take long to walk through. Lots of history on the walls. A nice... More

This park is of special interest because its location. Genoa, Nevada, is the oldest community in the state. The park is a good place for a picnic lunch or short stroll with a few exhibits of frontier life. Genoa village is an hour's drive from Lake Tahoe, across the street from it's Court House Museum, and less than two miles... More

After walking into Genoa from David Walley's, the lush greenery and shady benches were heavenly. The picnic area stretches back away from the street. We rested and met locals and visitors like us near the entrance of the replicated stockade. Inside were artifacts from pioneers and prospectors. It's a wonderful place for casual history buffs or anyone interested in Nevada's... More

This park is beautifully kept and provides a relaxing place to stroll -- throwing in some history of the area to boot. The park ranger was friendly and it was fun to talk with her.

Genoa is the oldest incorporated city in Nevada. We enjoyed learning about the history there, as it was a stop for settlers going over Carson Pass to California.

We had a great time at the Genoa Cowboy Festival (2016). We went to the Saturday night concert that featured The Legend Ian Tyson with Mike Beck and Larry Maurice. It was a great combination of legendary singing and cowboy poetry. They put up a nice tent for the concert with good acoustics. There is also numerous vendors there as... More

Fascinating. Learn about the area, see a map of the pony express route. The park ranger is interesting and will delight you with stories.

I took my nieces here to Genoa. It is an adorable town to walk around. It is in the Minden-Carson City area. Also it is home to the original "Candy Dance".
