If the beach is the reason you are going to stay at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, donāt. The Mandalay Bay beach is an expensive nightmare of administrative red tape, bad food and poor service. It is probably the biggest scam in Las Vegas.
To use the beach you must be a guest of the Mandalay Bay and pay for either beach chairs or a cabana. The cabanas can cost as much a $600. For the fee, you get almost nothing. They give you unlimited bottled water and two inner tubes for the lazy river, nothing else.
The pool facilities are also less than to be expected. There are multiple pools, but they are all tiny and weirdly shaped. Social distancing is difficult and there are no in pool amenities like bars or in pool stools that you find in almost every other resort in the world. The wave pool is an interesting and unique factor but after two or three anemic waves you quickly get bored of it. You donāt need to use an inner tube in the lazy river but, if you want to, it must be purchased. A family of five having paid $600 for a cabana only gets two inner tubes and must still buy three more.
No outside food or beverages are allowed so you must buy it from them. The food offered is awful and we ended up throwing most of it out uneaten. Two salads and two chicken fingers cost as much as a three-course dinner for 5 in a medium priced restaurant. There are also no a la carte offerings and you must by poorly planned meals that almost always come with something you donāt want. You canāt just buy a hot dog, hamburger or chicken fingers. You must buy a meal that includes French Fries.
Even though you are required to buy the food from them, you must purchase it separately from the cabana. This requires signing a separate piece of paper. Signing for lunch at the end of the day turned out the be at least the 5th thing we had to sign. Every time we turned around they had another agreement for us to sign. We couldnāt lie down in the sun without having to sign another piece of paper.
This was the most annoying and stressful day I ever spent at a pool. The only thing that they got right were the COVID restrictions.

MGM management MUST better educate and train the adult pool venue. Reserving Cabana 3,4 on 5/16/21 until 6:00 we stopped bar tab at 5:30 then told to leave by three security guards. Yes it was sprinkling, yes it was 75 degrees and yes family wedding-reunion participants of 20 was not about alcohol sales or the need to be a hot 105 degrees.

My wife and I went here for the day on 10/14/2020.We just wanted to get away from everything and enjoy a day byt the pool. We loved it. I reserved 2 chairs in the beach area for the day. I am so glad I did. Not only did we get water for the day, they kept refilling the water all the time. We had an umbrella and when the sun moved , they moved the umbrella around so we were still in Shade. Great service. Some folks will say that is expensive and yes it is, but you don't go here to do things on the cheap. We are planning to go again next year. Oh, the pool and lazy rever is excellent as well as the service. Not to cold, not to hot. And since we were right on the beach, easy to get into the water.

Always a great resort to stay at. The casino is clean. It does not have a nauseous smoke odor! The dealers are friendly. The Restaraunt a have changed in the last few years PRIOR to 2019 masking guidelines. (Decrease in food options and increase in pricing).
The pool is our family favoriteā¦ a beach, wave pool, salt water pool, hot tub, lazy river, beach casino, beach bars, cabanas.
The room decor is tired- scratches and gouges in desks and furniture, hard water stains in showers, bathrooms looking weary. The entire place could benefit from a refresh.
Regardless of the asthetics, the rooms are clean, disinfected and VERY comfortable!

We were staying at the Mandalay Bay hotel already, so we had included access to this fun collection of pools. The sandy beach with the wave pool was very fun to try, and the lazy river was very relaxing. Bring your own inner tubes if at all possible though, as they are rather expensive to rent or buy on the premises. There are a variety of other lagoon pools as well, which were pretty well-maintained. It does get quite crowded, but there are also lots of places to sit. Like most things in Las Vegas, itās a little fake, but they do a pretty good job making you feel like youāre at the beach.

This pool was horrible. You have to pay 150 for 1 chair and 1 umbrella, or 350 for an uncomfortable day bed with a thin shade. This place will take every dime out of your pocket with no shame. Hot, sweaty and full of trashy people. The wave pool has a wave every 5 minutes and there are height restrictions. Worst pool Iāve ever been to, do not come to Mandalay Bay!!!

Wave pool area itself is awesome, reserved 2 chairs at wave pool and 1 cabana at pool. Much preferred the atmosphere of wave pool best but cabana at pool is great for little kids. Assistants at wave pool were perfect! Thank you, Bernice and Mike. Food and drink service was not up to par, though. Frozen margarita was just ok, little too sweet for me and too light on the booze. Ordered a chicken parm sandwich and fries for lunch, which, to my surprise, were very yummy and very fair priced. Total for food and drink $37.93.

The only reason we chose Mandalay Bay is because reviews said it had the best pool for families. I thought my kids could body surf or boogie board in the wave pool or enjoy the lazy river. At the wave pool, the waves are so small (under 1 foot) that I didnāt realize there were any waves at all and thought it had been turned off. An employee said it was to avoid injury. My 11 year old was so disappointed! We then tried the lazy river but they donāt provide inner tubes. They must be purchased for $32 at the gift shop. Not what I expected!

We were excited about the lazy river and the wave pool. The lazy river was fun but smaller than we thought it would be and thus very crowded. It was nice because we could bring our drinks in it and didnāt have a floatie to go in it.
The wave pool was a big disappointment. It looks nice but you canāt tell if itās having waves unless you are in it because they are so small. Itās too bad because it would likely be a nice wave pool if they had put more money into it so you could have real waves.
Also you canāt sit in the shallow part of it for some unknown reason.
The other pools were standard Vegas pools.

The ābeachā pool is a total disappointment, first, the sand is really really hot so you have to wear sandals all the time, then there is no point for the waves since you canāt be where they break āis prohibitedā you have to get all the way in where you donāt feel the waves at all. You canāt even be on the shore line. The whole thing is just pointless.

Is it necessary for me to reserve lounges at the pool for my husband and I
Written June 5, 2022
Tough call. The cabanas are pretty nice but expensive and they do not include any food or drinks. It gets crowded on Saturday and Sunday. If you want to spend the day in the pool, not a bad way to go.
If you are not sleeping in, probably no problem getting a lounge chair if you go to the pool early-ish. No problem getting a lounge chair other days. I am not sure you can reserve them, except for the adults only pool.

If you are a guest staying at the Mandalay Bay, do you pay for the sunbeds around the pool? Also, are there alot available or do you have to reserve them early?
Written February 3, 2022

Plan to visit end of July 2021 during week (Tuesday-Friday). Iām getting really worried about everything I have read so far about people not being able to get into the pool without reserving a very expensive chair or cabana. Itās already ridiculous to pay over $1000 for the few days we are going to not be able to even get into the pool area. The only reason we booked this hotel was for the pool. We can get free or discounted rooms at the Caesar properties. Any tips/suggestions or info you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

We are visiting in July and I read some reviews that says wait time for pool was really long (5-6 hrs in April/May due to Covid restrictions). Anyone noticed if this situation has improved recently or would it get worst during summer time/July?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, thinking about visiting Mandalay Bay. I have 2.5 year old. Do you think they will let him in and play in the pool?
Written April 19, 2021
There are more than one pools, say yes, your child can go in some of them, but not all of them are meant for younger kids
Written April 25, 2021
I was wondering how far in advance did you reserve 2 chairs? and if you don't mind sharing the cost? also the lazy river do you rent or buy floats to use in it and cost ? what was weather like in October? we are going for my husbands bday in October 2021.
Ty in advance

We went and waited in line for free chairs. Itās best to get there at 830a and stand in line. The cost of chairs/ cabanas varies by the day. Weekdays are lower priced

Happy holidays ! I will be in Vegas for two days booked a hotel already just found about about your beach/pool , can I rent a cabana for the day eve though I am not staying in your hotel ? Itās my husbands birthday weekend and he will love some sun .
Written January 5, 2021
The Mandalay Bay pool area is reserved exclusively for people staying at the hotel. While I was there in August 2020, I witnessed relatives of hotel guests being turned away for this reason.
