About
From humble beginnings in small UNLV college clubs to late night T.V., Purple Reign has risen to international acclaim and recognition as the world’s #1 Prince Tribute. On November 17, 2008 the group became the 1st ever tribute/impersonator act to appear as the musical guest on Late Show with David Letterman. That show was chosen by CBS and Late Show to ring in the New Year and re-aired January 1st, 2009 at 12:15am (New Years Eve) less than 45 days later, making it the 1st musical performance of 2009 on Letterman. ‘09 also saw Purple Reign crowned "Best Tribute Act" by the 28th annual Las Vegas Review Journal Poll, winning 2 awards by both the staff and readers. Purple Reign captures the imagination and seamlessly re-creates the blistering performances and raw energy of Prince in his prime and returns you to the era that made "The Artist" an international superstar. Featuring a tribute Morris Day and The Time, this show is a must see for Purple Rain movie fans and all live music fans alike!

I have been a long time Prince fan since I saw him in concert when I was 19. I appreciate the band trying to perform like Prince did, but I did not appreciate them making jokes about how conceited Prince was with the mirrors, etc. Prince was a great artist and actually quite humble. It also seemed like more of a strip show and tribute to the band who was performing. They did not sing, “When the Doves Cry,” either. I think the band is promoting themselves instead of Prince.

The guitar players were outstanding. The act impersonating The Time were great. The dancers were not essential to the show and were a detraction. If you want to see dancing girls in Vegas there are other places for that. The female singer was not mic'd or mixed properly and couldn't be heard. The audience lighting was too light, and the room should be darker. The focus on the raunchy part of Prince's world has no place in a tribute to him. A revision to the set list would be nice.

The show was supposed to be 8:30pm
They opened the door and let the audiences in starting at 8:45pm
The show started 9:05pm no explanation
The show ended around 10pm
Dirty seating dirty theater.
He asked audiences standing up to get exercise. The seats were very tight to each other. Not recommend

The music and performers doing Prince and Morris Day were so talented and fun. Having scantily clad dancers really were disappointing. Having seen Prince, he never had dancers with him. I guess it's a Vegas thing??? Seemed to ruin the show. They don't need the dancers-they can stand on their own merits.

The worst show I’ve ever seen. The production was just horrible. The guitar strings kept popping off. Prince tripped coming off the stage. He didn’t know the words to one of the requested songs. You could see people walking backstage. The list goes on. It’s just a shame they did Prince’s tribute like this. If they can’t do it at a high standard, don’t do it at all.

Show started 1hr+ late with no explanation. We were asked to line up for the 9:30 show at 9:00. We were forced to stand in the casino halls for more than hour. Very disrespectful treatment and no apology or explanation for the delay.

We enjoyed the show! The performers were amazing! Great instrumentation and they really embodied the spirit of Prince and Morris Day. Anyone who finds fault with the show needs to loosen up a little bit. It was a good time and we got up and enjoyed it! The show is changing locations but I would definitely go again.

I'm not a Prince fan, but my husband is and he LOVED this show. The musicians were amazing! Our only disappointment is we paid an extra $10 for VIP seats and we were seated at the same table as people with regular tics. Visit the half price booths on the strip and get a huge discount for this show.

My husband and I are huge Prince fans from the UK and have seen the great man live many times. We have seen Purple Reign 4 times now over the years in Vegas and it’s sad to see the reviews commenting that ‘Jason looked like he didn’t want to be there’ and that ‘He was rude to people in the audience’ etc. I have always been in awe of his talent as a Prince tribute, the look the singing and speaking voice being so accurate, the dance moves...but sadly we saw him last week at The Tropicana and he did seem to be just going through the motions. He actually commented that he’d been doing this s..t for 23 years, but quickly corrected himself.
Each time we’ve seen him perform, the show has been altered slightly but from the last time we saw him, not long after Prince passed at The LVH, nothing has changed, this latest show is disappointingly pretty much the exact same format.
As fellow performers we find it incredibly sad that Jason seems to have become jaded and has forgotten what an honour it is to perform on stage anywhere, let alone Las Vegas. You are only as good as your last performance so it has to be the best you can do every time you step up there, because you never know who could be sitting in the theatre and the person paying good money to see you deserves to be given your best.
If you can’t be bothered then you shouldn’t be up there, you are only cheating yourself and wasting all the years of dedication and passion you’ve put into your performances for many years.
Definitely not haters J, we wouldn’t have kept coming back if we weren’t fans, you just need to find the love of performing again. Stop hiding behind the scantily clad, stripping girls and the Time & Apollonia fillers, you really don’t need them, just get up there with a bigger band (Where’s Sheila???) and sing all the hits, sing what most of the fans want hear. (Remind the guys in the band to look like they’re having a good time on stage as they looked a bit bored at times too)
I hope you take this review as it’s meant, from a good place, with the best intention.

We have been watching Purple Reign for 11+ years since they opened up at The Holiday Inn Boardwalk in Vegas. This show has gone from very good to Great! From 1999, Doves Cry, Nikki, Get Off, and of course Purple Rain.... Jason (Prince) has taken this on at the Highest Level. Sings, Dances, and truly becomes the "Old School" Prince-before he became religous (nothing wrong with religon). There is Morris Day (Levant) and the Time that will get you on your feet dancing and singing just like old times. They started at the bottom and now headline and never have forgotten were the bottom was. www.purplereign.net visit the website and then go and see them. For two hours, you will have a Great time, Singing, Dancing, and forgetting any problems you may have. Thanks Jason and Crew for another Great show Friday at Talking Stick Resort. We tried to go back Saturday but...SOLD OUT AGAIN.

I have a group of 10 going, if we show up closer to when the show starts, are we going to get broken off and have to sit by ourselves? Or is it not set up in a way where that would happen?

Hi.
I seen him over10 years ago in the boardwalk.
It was just a 2 drink lounge and he was fantastic..
Is it worth the money they are charging.
Also I'd prefer the VIP seats ..
Are these seats worth nearly double .
Assume it's a booth..
Any free drinks included.
I'm going to vegas second week of January..
Any ideas or suggestions on equivalent or better shows

May be too late to respond. Just now seeing this as I do not get notifications on my phone. VIP is a booth, not sure worth it unless with a group of people. You do get photos after. No free drinks but they were cheaper at the show than anywhere else in Vegas we drank. I cannot recommend another show better unless you get a chance to see Lionel Richie or Baby Face Edmonds at the Terry Fater (sp) theater. I have seen them both but only Lionel in Vegas. He performed every song and played the piano and had a fantastic band as did Baby Face (in Houston) Lionel did not have tracks playing his voice - that man sang every word, danced and played - it was so good!!! Personally love him anyway. Both performers are out in Vegas in December and January I believe. Both would be well worth the money. We saw Lionel at Planet Hollywood's theater (not sure what it is called at present but really good sound.

Those who got tickets on groupon were you able to get seat assignments in advance or did you wait until the night of the show?
Written December 18, 2018
There were 2 for one vouchers in the booklets you pick up at the monorail stations when we were there and it isn’t a huge venue so all the seats have a good view.
