Always love coming to this park over and over. There’s almost no trail or view that could be described as average. The Mouse's Tank is no exception. You’ll also appreciate the history you’ll discover in Valley of Fire S.P. a short drive from nearby Las Vegas. It ain’t just gambling baby.

This was probably my favorite part of our short vacay to Vegas. It was a bit like being a kid again-wondering what was around the turn and excited scrambling up and through the time-worm rocks. There’s a feeling of being in another world - friends said “Are you on Mars!?!” when I posted the pics. Haha We went out a few hours before sunset after the Hoover Dam your. If I go again, I’ll spend an entire day walking and hiking.

The Valley of Fire State Park is fantastic! Definitely worth the drive from Las Vegas, it would make a great day trip away from the strip. There were tours that went here, but it was cheaper for us to rent a car for the day and see Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam. Fill the gas tank and bring a picnic lunch. (Only food we found was at a Lake Mead marina) Valley of Fire has red rock, red sand and more red rocks. Mouse's tank is a short hike back into the rocks, the tour buses stop here, so the trail thru the red sand can get busy at times. Other places in the park can be completely deserted. I go in April, it might snow, it might be 80 degrees! If you want to hike or just want a nice drive I would recommend Valley of Fire instead of Red Rock Canyon which is getting more crowded all the time.

Petroglyphs are really cool but the hike itself wasn't overly enjoyable as there was tons of people including large groups on a Saturday afternoon in late February. I suspect this would have been much more enjoyable on a weekday or in the early morning.

This place is gorgeous. This trail has such beautiful scenery. It is an easy walk/hike both in and out of the Tank, you won’t be disappointed. Take lots of pictures, the memories are everlasting.

Easy trail and you can go off the trail easily to explore and find your way to the markers. It gets hot and there's no shade so plan accordingly.

The tanks at the ends were a little hard to see. Being, short, I could not see the second one. We scrambled up some rocks on the left of the tanks, but that was a lot of work and could not see the tanks from there.

Nice easy trail up to the tank where you can see numerous petroglyphs and drawings on the canyon walls.

There is parking but because it is a hike back to the Mouse Tank, I would suggest having something to block the sand when the wind is blowing. It is very fine sand and a face scarf would be a good idea because the wind can be strong on that path. Also, a bottle of water is a good idea to have with you.
