Fire wave trail is closed until October 1st 2021.
If someone is going all the way out to this park they should know their limits.
Trail is best in the afternoon and there is no shade anywhere.
Since the park has had to rescue these idiots they closed the trail to save funds.

I hiked the Fire Wave in conjunction with Seven Wonders. In my opinion, this is by far the best hike in Valley of Fire State Park. I did it mid-morning in early May and it was not too hot. To state what is probably obvious, pick a time and season when the heat is not oppressive. The colors and rock formations were spectacular. Having the All Trails app would be helpful, as the trail is not always clearly marked.

One of the best hiking trails one could ever take. The 1.5 mile round trip excursion was well worth the time. The scenery is beyond jaw dropping.

My family and I did the Seven Wonders loop and finished at Fire Wave. We had the entire area to ourselves when we first arrived. It was magical! If you are hiking to Fire Wave only and back to the parking lot, the hike is pretty short and not too difficult. Definitely a must-see if you are in the area!

Be sure to have a lot of battery life in your camera because this is shot, shot, shot. If these are the Waves in Kanab, you must pay $5 and enter a lottery, as only 30 people are allowed each day.

This is a small rock formation with striking beauty only a short hike away from the paved road. Be mindful that because it attracts a lot of avid photographers, it may take some time for you to have your photo op. Anyway, take some time to just glance the beauty of it.

Lots to see at Valley of Fire State Park, but this right here should be at the top of the list. It is a 1.5 mile, moderate hike with an end point that will leave you breathless. Take lots of water. Even though it's only 1.5 miles, there is no shade.

The Fire Wave Trail in Nevada's Valley of Fire State Park makes for a wonderful 2 mile in/out hike passing through brilliantly colored, striated rock formations reminiscent of “The Wave” in Arizona. Park in Lot #3 and cross the road to get to the trailhead. The trail is well-signed with a few, steep up and downs, until you reach the crest of a hill, marked by a large stone cairn, which overlooks the Fire Wave valley itself. From there on, one wanders at will through the area's multi-colored rock formations, marveling at their intricate striped patterns. Instead of returning via the same trail, you can walk to the south end of the Fire Wave area towards a wash marked by a few trees and scrub bushes. Turn westward, up the wash, and you will soon be hiking up Pink (Pastel) Canyon with its lovely convoluted pink rock walls and sandy bottom. Pink Canyon rejoins the main road where you can either turn around to retrace your steps or hike back up the road to the parking lot. Total mileage for this loop including the walk back up the road is a little over 3 miles. The entire walk is in bright sun and temperatures are over 100 degrees in the summer so sunscreen, a hat and plenty of water are necessary. Best photography is in early morning or late afternoon.
