This is a great local mountain less than 1/2 hour from Reno. It has every thing from beginner runs to expert chutes. During the week it is like a private mountain. I skied this mountain from Nov to May

A ski mountain without a resort (Stay in Reno). Two lodges with excellent food. Kids lessons fabulous. Adult lessons very good. Small by today's standards. Excellent groomed and ungroomed. Wonderful beginner area slightly apart from the main ski runs. Friendly, helpful staff. Ski rental packages....More

Smaller in terms of operations, less sophisticated in culinary offerings, but superb in physical location and slope offerings --that is Mt. Rose Ski Center.

Been going to Mt.Rose for years and love it! Lots of vertical, if your looking for black, check it out! Great for the experts and plenty of green and blue for the beginners or mid level. It's a great resort that has it all!

Four out of seven of us needed to rent snowshoes for a trek up on Chickadee Ridge, in the high meadow behind the summit, heading down into the Tahoe basin. The staff was very helpful and the price was reasonable ($15 each). Hard to believe...More

What a snow pack this year! Skiing in the morning and BBQ in the afternoon. Less than 30 minutes away from home. Two for Tuesdays is a great deal.

30 minute drive from downtown, you get a very nice view from there, would definitely come back for a day or two, a bit pricy.

I've never encountered altitude sickness at Mt. Rose or anywhere, and I regularly backpack at altitudes of 8,000-10,000 feet. It won't be an issue.
