Great place to check out local history!

More than just tin, so much history has been donated to this place. Admission is a donation-- this is a great place to stop at. You need to check it out!! I got lucky to get a private tour since it wasn't too busy. This really made the trip!

The Visitor Info Centre in Stewiake mentioned this location to us when we were looking for something to do in the area. Unfortunately it was closed when we arrived but we went back when we had some time before going to the airport on a rainy day and looking for an indoor activity. Are we ever glad we returned. What an interesting step back in time this was. We were offered a tour the moment we came in the door. Our tour guide was well informed and very pleasant. After the tour we were taken to the attached craft shop which showcases and sells the wares of local folks. Some interesting items can be found there.
It's our understanding that this location is open seasonally only.

Very interesting old tinsmith's shop, workspace , and hardware store. Original building in small town. Antique metal working, tin-smithing tools and machinery. The proprietor used to make the milk cans for dairy farmers, many of the templates are still hanging on the walls. The upper floor has been developed into a local military museum, with wide range of WW1 and WW2 weapons, uniforms, and memorabilia. It is maintained by local volunteers. This place is truly a glimpse of the past, from the items in the store, to the machinery that nobody knows how to use anymore.
