WE took the round trip from Carson City to Virginia City...live entertainment awaits at the station when you start. The ride is really fun and we scheduled it so we had the 1916 steam locomotive pulling us. Wild horses can be seen along the tracks,...More

This railroad should be the first thing visitors stop at when they come to Virginia City. The tour of the mining town gives the tourist a good summary of what the past was like in Virginia City. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about his town...More

We've taken several grandchildren on this train a few times, and they always love it. This time was no different. It was especially exciting because we had a good tour guide/train engineer who explained several things along the way.

We loved this train trip that started in Truckee and ended in Vir. City. After learning about the Comstock lode, we landed in the touristy old west town. Not much there of the original except oral history though.

A pleasant short ride from Virginia City to Gold Hill and back. Some days they use a steam locomotive and others a diesel locomotive. Either way, it is a nice ride with narration by a conductor who was very knowledgeable about rhe local history. The...More

This old restored railroad is a labor of love by many volunteers. The 35 minute ride is well worth it. We learned all sorts of things about Virginia City, so it was a good introduction to the area. Our conductor was one of the original...More

I think it’s pretty normal to get them same day in the Visitor’s center. Several departures are set daily. When we bought tickets, they were good for any departure that day.
