Can't miss it!

I like markers and this one is easy to find. Right across the street from the Delta Saloon! Don't forget to look at both plagues!

Being a Clamper and also being my first trip to Virginia City, seeing all the history that has been preserved and put up not only by the State of Nevada but by E Clampus Vitus as well made the trip more than worth it. I will be definitely being going back again.

Easy forty minute drive from Reno. Good for history buffs and those like lots of saloons. Small museum and train ride. Worth an afternoon.

This is a marker/memorial downtown Virginia City directly across from the Delta saloon. This marker commemorates the discovery of the "lode" on one side with a plaque and a replica pan/pick and shovel with a nugget in the pan. There is also a National Pony Express Centennial plaque and a plaque about Virginia City.

It's just so much history here for the area and how this big find of gold and silver changed the lives of so many people and the direction of this city. Definitely worth a stop

OK, so Virginia City is unashamedly a tourist town. OK, the locals turn everything into a tourist magnet (including the restaurant/saloons, Mark Twain who lived and did newspaper work here, the t-shirt and souvenir shops - and there are many of them). But for history buffs and people out for an enjoyable day of walking and museum visiting and historic... More

As you walk and buy down C Street in Virginia City, look for the Comstock Lode Monument - a relatively small pyramid on a square base between Union and Taylor streets. Read the plaque. Then look up beyond the roof of the Delta and find the big white "V" on the mountainside. That is Mt. Davidson, underneath which almost 7... More

Take the V&T stem train to Gold Hill, you used to be able to disembark for a nice lunch at hotel and catch the next train back, sadly there isn't lunch at hotel anymore. Next up is the authentic Chollar mine and stamp mill tour- best narrative of all mine tours- excellent history.
