Just on the outskirts north of Virginia City is the Silver Terrace Cemetery. There are numerous sections where Masons, firemen, and others were interned. At the highest peak, is one of the oldest graves ( I will let you discover that one on your own)...More

If you like wandering old cemeteries, you'll love this one. It' on the side of a hill in several terraces and overlooks the valley below. It's just outside the main part of Virginia City, so easy access from there. Plenty of old markers to wander...More

One of my favorite cemeteries of all times. There are lots of very old headstones here. Those who like to photograph cemeteries, this place is a gold mine. During the summer, watch for snakes. Please mind the rules and don't destroy headstones or markers. It...More

I love old cemeteries! The headstones were so interesting! I would loved to have had time to look at many more of the inscriptions. Wonder which was the oldest grave. It was the most intriguing cemetery I have visited. Be sure to go and look...More

I love walking around old wet Cemeteries, that sounds morbid, there is so much history that has taken place in these old western mining towns, and the Cemeteries tell much of their stories.

The cemetery is quite large with many beautifully carved monuments. My favorite had a deceased dove carved on the top of the headstone, very unique!

It was a sobering experience to see the graves of those who lived and died in the Comstock Lode nearly 200 years ago. To see the aged and the youth alike in their final resting place was a wakeup and a warning of man's mortality.

Spent at least two hours here. If you love history this is a good place for you. Have been here twice for several hours both times and haven't made it all the way through yet. Will be back.

Do you have guided tours for the Silver Terrace Cemeteries? I have reason to believe that I have relatives buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Virginia City. I am also keenly interested in the oldest part of the Gold Hill Cemetery. The part which is difficult to access. What would you advise? Thank you for your information. Sandra Martin

I have never seen 'tours' there. Try asking the Nevada Historical Society?
