Because we were there on a Sunday, we could not get into the house, but judging from the exterior I think I would try to go back again. The building is located in the Concord Historic District, and I highly recommend you take about 5-10 minutes to walk through the district while at the home. The Fourteenth President, Franklin Pierce... More

If you're looking for a Monticello or Mount Vernon you'll be disappointed. This rather small house was moved to it's present small site tucked into a neighborhood. There are some farmland views behind the home. The cost is minimal and they have a small entry area where you can view a short film and view a few artifacts. The staff... More

The Manse is the only home ever owned by Franklin Pierce, 14th President of the United States. Fortunately, the house was moved from downtown Concord to this more park-like setting. A small visitor center offers a video and exhibit about Pierce. An informative guided tour provides history about the house and the Pierce family--their triumphs and tragedies.

The docent led tour of the house was quite informative in getting to know about Franklin Pierce and his work and family life.

because it seems the air conditioning units temperature remains high until a tour begins. Informative. Tour guide clearly embraces the man, Pierce and is proud of the Pierce Manse. Many personnel belongings of the Pierce family and period pieces. Plenty of parking. Plan to spend about an hour.

We were running late and showed up right at closing. The ladies giving tours were so nice and offered us a last minute abbreviated tour. It was fantastic! The tour guide was very knowledgeable of Franklin Pierce and the time period. Unfortunately very little was kept from Pierce's personal life so many of the items are period-authentic, not Pierce-authentic. The... More

The Pierce Manse is staffed by volunteers who clearly care about the impression of Franklin Pierce that you take away. Our guide, Cinny, gave us an in-depth depth tour of the Manse itself, explaining how the building was saved from demolition and moved to its present site. She showed us which furniture was original and which wasn't. And she told... More

We walked past the house but did not go onto the grounds. Located at the top of a hill (no hill climbing necessary), there is a nice view at the rear of the property.
