Nice hike over Columbus Day weekend

We hiked this trail this past weekend. We went to the right on the longer side on the hike up to the ledges. My wife and I are not regular hikers so we did have to take a few breaks along the way up. We also had our 1 year old lab with us who thoroughly enjoyed the hike. The... More

If you can do a moderate hike, this one is very nice. It is right off the kancamagus, not far from Rt16. There are two places to view the kanc and surrounding mountains from top. I recommend going clockwise, as the trail is circular. It is called boulder loop due to the huge boulders scattered about that any little boys... More

Don't miss the top! You need to take a short side trail to get up to the ledges and you'll walk right past the turn-off near the top if you are not paying attention. This isn't an easy hike but average families won't have a problem. The cliffs and views are absolutely tremendous. Figure a few hours round trip (tops).... More

A few of the reviews below made this seem like a great beginner hike to take children on. We don't hike much so I thought it would be a great time. the hike is almost a mile straight up with no leveling off. That's going counterclockwise. The trail is also poorly marked in spots. We lost the trail twice and... More

We went clockwise, not knowing any better, and it was very hard with our two toddlers (2 and 4), but the boys did really well, and we made it about a full mile into the climb before turning back, considering it a success considering we were carrying the boys half the time! The rocks and cliffs were absolutely amazing, and... More

This is a good "we just got here" type of hike, or a hike for those looking for something to do with children. Its nice that its a loop and the view are lovely. Its not a serious hiking expedition, but the trail can get a bit steep and rocky at times. Be prepared with water and hiking shoes and... More

We parked in the covered bridge parking lot and walked to the trail head, not realizing there was another parking lot directly across from the trail head. Not a big deal, it added maybe .2 miles to out total hike. I found the beginning of the trail to be poorly marked, it winds to the right before you get to... More

We found ourselves with a few extra hours to pass on Friday afternoon. We happened to have a list of hikes in the North Conway area from an earlier stay. Looking down the list, Boulder Loop was appealing. There was easy access from the Kancamagus highway, total distance of 3 miles with a rating of "Moderate" on the list. The... More

This is a lovely walk with great views, but beware, there is very little information about the difficultly and ruggedness of the walk. It is a tough climb and hard underfloor even with good walking shoes. In the main the path is well signposted but there are times when the yellow marks on the trees are not easily seen. The... More
