We were in the area for a short visit and decided to make a quick stop. We enjoyed the short walk from the parking area to the viewing area. Interesting history on the old man of the mountain along with a very creative way to...More

Although the face of the Man on the Mountain crumbled several years ago, the plaza is a must see if you are visiting Canon Mountain. Besides the gift shop and memorabilia related to the discovery and maintenance of the sculpture, they have built a series...More

The people of New Hampshire still mourn for the Old Man. Sadly, over the years frost made the rocks weak and the support was quite damaged. It collapsed and toppled forward to its doom. The Visitor Center covered how majestic it used to be to...More

Points for originality. You visit because it's an easy stop off when driving past and you only stop because it is (technically, was ?) the New Hampshire state symbol. The principle is quite unique but please don't expect much. The whole thing can be done...More

Old Man of the Mountain is another place in the Franconia Notch State Park. An interesting historical site to visit.

As many have said in their reviews, the face is gone. It's still a good conversation piece. The area is very pretty. Worth a stop just to look.

Since the actual Old Man outcropping fell off some years ago, what's left is a pretty neat system designed to allow you to see what it would have looked like prior to the fall, based on your height. I think the creativity this system necessitated...More

Pretty park, great mountain views. But the profiler is a let down without the full face (the rocks fell 13-14 years ago). Imagine crazy horse in South Dakota, but natural stone. The profiler is great for geology buffs. A good lesson on geometry as well...More
