Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is a fun and enlightening place for everyone to enjoy. Here at the Science Center, we house and exhibit many different wild animals, including river otters, mountain lions, bobcats, deer, bears, birds, foxes, and skunks. The wild animals at Squam Lakes Natural Science Center are ambassadors of their species, here for the purpose of educating our visitors about New Hampshire's natural world. Most are orphaned, injured, or otherwise unable to survive in the wild. Observing these animals up-close, together with experiencing our hands-on exhibits, offers visitors the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of our native wildlife and appreciation of the natural world.

Great place for some nature

I really enjoyed the Squam Lakes Science Center. Plenty to see and do for kids and adults, we traveled as 2 adults. Admission is pricey but I think worth it if the weather is nice.

This was the perfect mix of walking trails and seeing wildlife. It was like a walk in the woods with many payoffs to keep the children occupied and engaged. We have a 2 and 4 year old and they loved this science center. It was not crowded, plenty of room to roam, lots to see, and the playground and play... More

Thank you so much for such a nice review! We're glad you enjoyed your visit and time exploring the Science Center. Just a head's up for future visits, there is a bathroom located at the Red Barn between the River Otter Exhibit and the White-tailed Deer Exhibit (about halfway around the trail). Certainly an easier stop for kiddos when you... More

My wife and I went here on a weekday after school began. The exhibits are very kid-friendly so there were a lot of families with toddlers and babies in strollers. The paths are paved and very well maintained so it's highly accessible for people with disabilities. As much as we liked the exhibits, we hung out at the floating bridge... More

Although we went as a couple this is more aimed at a younger audience. Although animals to be seen were interesting. Weather fine when we went so able to do longer walk around edge of the center Mainly outside with a number of pavilions to see animals. We went towards the end of season so the cafe had closed for... Very nice natural environment for the animals. We walked about a mile along trails to each animal. Each spot had pertinent information about the animal. There was enough information to be educational without being too long to read. Hands on activities at each stop. Very clean.

Dress in layers just in case the weather turns cool. Blankets available but limited on the boat. Boat driver/guide narrates and points out lots of points of interest as well as behind the scenes stories on the filming of "On Golden Pond." Don't sit near the back of the boat as difficult to hear over the noise of the engine.... More

While looking to fill in a cloudy afternoon, we discovered the science center. What a nifty place--except for the price of the hike. Seems like it was a little bit expensive and we didn't actually go. We did enjoy the outer exhibit and the ride there.
