Spectacular views with a great friendly staff
Jun. 2021
The building is impressive and the views are priceless. However, the guides that are walking around the house complete the experience. They are friendly and full of information about the house and history.

I would like to recognize Jackie, Mary Sue and Sue. You guys rock!!!! Thank you.

While The Castle is closed. The road up is open to pedestrians. We went up Shannon Brook Trail and down Castle Rd. Fantastic hike with views and waterfalls. Great New Years hike.

Awesome House and Grounds Tour
Sep. 2020
My husband and I visited the Castle in the Clouds in September. We felt very safe as everyone had to wear a mask. They limited the number of passengers on the trolley up to the house. When you entered the house for the tour only your family goes in and then you wait until the next room is cleared.
The docents are very helpful if you have any questions. The rooms are nicely decorated and the views are spectacular.
We decided to walk back instead of taking the trolley because it was a beautiful day in the fall.

Great Day Visit to Castle in the Clouds
Oct. 2020
Visited the Castle on the last week that they were still opened. You can only see the inside of the Castle if you go on a tour because of Covid. The grounds are beautiful with the fall foliage. If you do not go on the tour you can go on a small trail behind the castle and see the view of Lake Winnipesauke.

Take the Basement tour too!
Oct. 2020 • Couples
We visited on our first full day in New Hampshire and it didn’t disappoint! We love guided tours, so we splurged the extra money to add the Basement Tour ($50 total for both the main house and basement tour for 2 adults). It was very interesting and informative, and gave a lot more info and perspective about Mr Plant who built the house and the servants (think Downton Abby on a smaller scale) who also lived there).
After the tours we had a picnic lunch and then hiked the trail to see the 7 waterfalls. We are in our 40s and in reasonably good shape. If you are not sure-footed (there were lots of tree roots, rocks etc) or if you struggle to walk up hill/steps, this isn’t the hike for you. We did it, and are glad, but we also saw people struggle. I’m not trying to discourage, just remember that every step downhill results in another step uphill to return!

Real Nice Time
Sep. 2020
Four of us ate on the terrace at the former horse barn on Sept.3. The staff, setting and food were all very good. The setting is great of course and the spacing between the tables and the rules established were all logical and understandable. The guitar player that night was fun also. It was nice to get away outside in NE after lots of time at home.

A must see
Jul. 2020 • Couples
Amazing home with wonderful views on a sunny day! The staff did a wonderful job of socially distancing everyone for the self guided tour of the home. The site also has miles of hiking trails. We hiked the Brook trail after seeing the home. Seven waterfalls along a well maintained and well marked trail. This place is a must see if you are in the area.

A Treasure
Jul. 2020
What a beautiful house, tremendous view, and fascinating story! Not ostentatious, the house reflects great craftsmanship and how the couple enjoyed life in the country - riding, hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, etc. The view was amazing, especially from the upstairs bedrooms. The staff was knowledgeable and offered insights about how the owners fortune came and went. Take the walk to the falls if you have time. Very cognizant of Covid protocol.

We hadn’t been here since 2009. The Castle is closed however the carriage roads and property is open. We hiked the Interpretive Trail today with kids while social distancing. Just amazing views and very few folks are out. Good day!
