We had the best time riding the horses and seeing the sites! So sad we can't come back this year due to covid!

Horse back riding in the clouds!
Sep. 2019 • Family
Had a great experience horse back riding for the first time. Staff were excellent at pairing each one of us to the right horse. Highly recommend this place for your first time on a horse, especially for young children. It was nice they also offer carriage rides for the little ones!

Great ride
Aug. 2019 • Friends
The staff was really nice and Jerry was mostly calm the entire ride (with the exception of a slight spooking by a deer). No issues on the ride and the trail was beautiful.

Do not waste your time or money on anything at Cones in the Clouds except for the ice cream. They ran out of pizza and the hot dog machine had semi-broke. So when they gave us the hotdogs, they were tough and weren't even warm at all.

Always a beautiful ride!

My husband and I have taken this ride anytime we come to the Lakes Region. It is a beautiful ride through the woods along waterfalls and through fields with views of Lake Winnipesaukee. The guides are always courteous and helpful and the horses are well mannered. This is also a beautiful area to explore when you are done with your ride!

Great location, well mannered horses, pleasant people

I have years of experience with horses and the horses here are very special. They are all well behaved and the trail ride was relaxing and fun. There are many unusual colors and sizes of horses and everyone on our trail ride felt they had a good match. The leaf colors are just starting to change there. I look forward to going again to see the vibrant colors of the area in autumn and just enjoy the trail ride.

Started great but ended badly

We visited Riding In Clouds for a trail ride at the request (begging) of my 11 year old daughter. It was the only thing she wanted to do on our vacation in NH.
The reservation process was simple-I left a voicemail requesting a trail ride and my call was returned within the hour. Our ride was booked and my daughter could not have been more excited!
The horses were selected by the staff, we signed our waivers, put on our helmets, received some basic instructions and we were on our way! It was a beautiful ride with gorgeous scenery!
Toward the end of the ride, my daughters horse “Red” became spooked seemingly out of no where and took off running out of line. The leader was shouting for her to pull back on the reins but it was too late, she had lost her balance and fell off the horse. Her leg was tangled in the stirrup and she fell to the ground. She was screaming “my leg, my leg”. The leader instructed her to stay down but that was all she did to take charge of the dangerous situation.
She seemed to have no clue on how to handle the situation from there. My child was crying on the ground, afraid of getting trampled as her horse was still loose. My husband had to initiate dismounting his horse to go over to tend to her and assess her injuries. The leader did nothing besides tell her to stay down and radio the barn for assistance in the field. A 4-wheeler arrived to remove her (and my husband, who had to carry her to the rescue vehicle)from the trail. She was given an ice pack for her ankle and a packet of bacitracin ointment for her cuts. As we were leaving the stable one of the staff members had me scribble my version of the accident on a note pad “for insurance purposes” as an incident report.
I realize that accidents happen, especially when it comes to animals however the emergency plan in place at Riding In the Clouds is less than stellar.
I was disappointed how the situation was handled and the lack of empathy showed to our family as a result of the accident. My daughter was so frightened and does not want to ride ever again.

Safety is not their first priority
Jul. 2018 • Family
We went riding with my 10 and 12 year old nieces last week. We were with a group of 7 and a guide. Part way through my 10 year old expressed her discomfort and our guide suggested she move her feet on the stirrup. We continued down an incline where my niece said three times that she thought she would fall off and was told the incline would be over soon. Her horse, Red, put its head down when she leaned forward the helmet fell off. The horse reared up throwing her off and then kicked her stomach. We were taken off the trail by a 4-wheeler. We then took ourselves to the hospital where we learned that she broke her wrist (after a 7-hour stint at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro).

The helmet had been provided by staff but there wasn’t a process in place to include a safety check where all equipment should have been secured and properly fitted.

The cause of this accident was a poorly fitted helmet that fell off her head spooking her horse causing her to be thrown onto the ground breaking her wrist and getting kicked in the lower stomach.

If safety was a priority to Riding With the Clouds, this accident could have been avoided. Instead, my 10 year old has to wear a cast for the next 6 weeks and will never ride a horse again. We will not be back (EVER).

Wonderful trail ride

We had a wonderful trail ride on Aug 22 2017. Our ride was great! The horses were well suited for each of our riders. Beautiful trail through the woods, along some water, and across a field. Great views of the lake. Beth was great - answered many questions when I made the reservation and helped us prepare for our ride.

Great trail ride
Aug. 2017 • Family
My family decided to go to Riding in the Clouds on Saturday, August 5th. The weather was not that great but we were looking for an adventure and decided on a horseback ride in the mountains. We made reservations about an hour before the ride and had no problem securing a spot. I have gone to several other places to trail ride in NH and MA in the past and so far this has been my favorite spot. The stables are clean and the horses look well-loved and healthy. We were greeted by Winston, the stable goat, who was adorable and friendly to my children. Although my youngest child backed out of the trail ride, I had a great experience with my son. The instructor was friendly and worked well with our group of 6 people. The trail was in excellent condition and the views were spectacular even though the weather wasn't great. I would highly recommend Riding in the Clouds if you are looking for a great place for a trail ride.
