This is a nice old historic house. A tour or an audio tour would be nice to explain some of the history.

We stopped in before heading to dinner at The Library. So glad we stopped as this historical home had several interesting exhibits. The grounds are lovely, too.

This site needs an audio tour companion to make it a destination. There was a brief introduction provided by the ticket-seller, but it’s not enough to make this a destination unto itself. If I could give this 2.5 stars I would have.

Had to wait 30 minutes for the attendant to return. I almost gave up but it's a must see for history buffs.

If you want to tour a beautiful historic home in downtown Portsmouth, this is a great choice. Learn a bit of US history and see period furniture, architecture, etc. in this beautiful old home. Easy walking distance from the main shopping area.
