The Music Hall is the closest cultural mecca to southern Maine and seacoast NH. Movies at the Loft are excellent, Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra is good, but Live from the Met operas and Opera Connection talks are supreme.

We went on a Saturday tour of The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH. Our guide discussed the theater’s history, devastating fires, renovations, artist performances, and indy movie offerings. Original theatre opened in 1877. Funky lobby and restrooms. Comfortable and spacious seating, uncommon among older venues....More

I always loved coming to the Music Hall as a young kid, as it seems so fancy, with the plush velvet seats, the intricate ceilings, and magnificent chandeliers. The shows (comedians, singers/bands, and musicals) I have gone to see are just great. The caliber of...More

The Music Hall and the Loft are about a 1 min walk from one another. The Loft is on Congress St. between The Friendly Toast and the Health Food Store. Each theater has a movie screen.

The District or the Library are the nearest, and there are 100 restaurants within a few block radius. There's Jumpin' Jays Fish Cafe, Rudi's , and Radici all within a block.
