The tour guide (Jeff Thomson) was interested, interesting, knowledgeable, and entertaining. The city is interesting and was important in colonial times.

Downtown Portsmouth NH is AWESOME! The most restaurants/things to do packed into the tiniest space ever and I loved it. HOWEVER, the parking fees are despicable and the evil city officials ONLY care about giving you a parking ticket/charging 25 cents for only 8 minutes!!!!!!!!!!...More

This is a terrific visitor center. When my husband and I stopped in on a weekend trip to Portsmouth, a volunteer immediately welcomed us, offered us a map, and gave us great suggestions for things to do in the off-season. Everyone we encountered at Discover...More

Portsmouth is rich in history and culture and we've lived here for 35 years. We often give out of town guests our own tour of the community, sites and historical significance. We decided a tour by the "pros" was in order on a beautiful Saturday...More

The video gives a great overview of the town. The walking tours bring that history to life. Discover Portsmouth has rotating exhibits that are both interesting and culturally centered.

Our tour guide, Sharon, was informative and engaging. She combined Portsmouth's history with the historical architecture of the buildings and interesting stories. Her voice was loud and clear among Portsmouth's busy streets. Be sure to wear good shoes as the tour is about 90 minutes.

We found the tour to be interesting but rather disjointed. We learned about various buildings and their individual stories but wanted to understand a broader view. I recommend that the tour start with an overview of Portsmouth, when it was settled and what brought people...More

Thanks so much. Please note that we invite participants to view a 12 minute film about Portsmouth prior to taking the walking tour. It accomplishes just what you suggest.

I learned a bit about history on this walking tour. Sharon was a knowledgeable and funny tour guide. The walking tour used to be dog friendly but no longer is, which was disappointing since I was on a roadtrip with my dogs. Other than that,...More

I think it's a shop called "Treehouse Toys". Check out their website, they have tons of floppy toys... farm animals, dogs, kitties, etc.
