Be prepared to spend some time at this 'small' island museum. A labor of love, the building is packed with a panorama of Brigantine history in old photographs, written memories of past residents, and plenty of exhibits. But the real gems are the docents, all locals who sense the unique soul of this charming 7 mile island. …

We've been vacationing on Brigantine for over 10 years and never knew this place existed. Last week we stopped at the Marine Rescue building, but they were closed. We noticed the museum right next door and stopped in. Actually, they were closing, but the fellow there stayed on and gave us a tour. The history was so amazing and interesting. The photos, maps & exhibits were just great. We learned a lot about the interesting history of the island from the 1st murder, to shipwrecks and washed up treasures (which are on display). We'll definitely return next year to spend more time there!…
