Open from June 20th through September 20th, from 10 AM to 4 PM, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Leaming's Run Gardens is a charming series of flower gardens nestled into acres of native woodlands in Cape May County, New Jersey. The shady path leads you past a bamboo grove, an expansive cinnamon fernery, and many beautiful vistas created by the themed flower plantings. The gardens were created by the Aprill family to preserve the centuries old woodlands and wetlands that are home to many rare native plants, and to create a relaxing place for visitors to escape from the pace of modern life. Family owned and operated for 36 years, the gardens are supported solely through admission fees. No outside funding has ever been received. Hummingbirds are plentiful in August. We hope you will visit, relax, and leave refreshed. We appreciate the support the garden has received from our guests over the years.Jack, Emily, Gregg and Missie Aprill

Nice but not grand

The garden is a little over price for what we saw. We saw very little wild life. Just a few butterflies and dragon flies. The flowers were the same flowers in my own back yard. I... read more

This amazing multi-facet garden is closed for good. There is a goodbye on their website and, when we passed the garden on April 15, 2017, the sign was gone. It's sad because although the garden was a bit disheveled, it had charm. Too bad I never reviewed it while it was open. I feel bad about my lack since we... More

Live very close to site. Visit several times each year. Beautiful grounds, often with seasonal themes. Birds and small animals often seen. Great time spent here. Great for couples or older children.

Lovely place to take a leisurely afternoon stroll among a variety of garden vignettes where butterflies abound. You will learn about the plants as well.

We found this after a visit to the zoo and decided to stop and see the gardens. We all loved it and will return. We were not sure with 3 kids under the age of 8 but they followed the trails, chased butterflies and learned about flowers. It was a nice day.

The garden is a little over price for what we saw. We saw very little wild life. Just a few butterflies and dragon flies. The flowers were the same flowers in my own back yard. I give it 3 stars for the bamboo area and I liked that you followed a set path. The whole garden took us about an... More

I have been visiting Leamings Run for close to 20 years. This was the place to go in late August early September to watch the humming birds as they head south. The gardens WERE always meticulous and blended with the natural surroundings. You would see hundreds of humming birds in all the different themed gardens. So I haven't been back... More

I was really excited to go here because it didn't sound like your run of the mill gardens. Maybe I went at the wrong time, I don't know but absolutely nothing was blooming. There was no color. I went through it in under a half hour and was like "that's it?"

Haven't been here in a few years, but what a beautiful setting. Best to visit in the Spring, it gets very hot walking the trails. Bring your camera, you can get some beautiful shots. Also wear your walking shoes. I would say it takes a few hours to walk all through. But it is worth it.

Let me start by saying I used to love this place as a kid. I have found memories of going there and exploring the Colonial farm house, kitchen garden, and seeing the farm animals. I was there about 5 years ago and found it much like I remembered, so when I went this past Friday in late September I was... More
