Spruce ruin is a lovely place to walk, ride a bike or boat. The beach is lovely but gets too crowded on summer weekends.

We visited in December and it was not crowded on the trails at all. There were a few fishermen by the water which is very low at this time due to the drought. We stopped in at the Ranger station for trail maps and they were helpful.

Could not go swimming when we arrived because water level was too low. Thank goodness we found a Paddle Board and Kayak rental company. We happened upon it almost by accident. There needs to be better signs or locate it closer to the swimming area - Surfs-Up Paddle Boards saved our trip.

Being a native of Hunterdon county it makes me sad to see it 1/2 full. I understand it has other purposes. But for a Recreation spot? Not so much. Many other spots to chose from.

So much to do here! The water is VERY low right now, so boating or kayaking can be tough, but there is a ton of trails and so much to see and explore. There is also camping through the State. Set aside a few hours to walk, hike, explore, take pictures or picnic!

Had a fantastic day trip and did paddle boating and kayaking. Staff really friendly and helpful. We went back again the day after as we enjoyed it so much.

Great place to go to during the off season, non-summer. Very quiet and spacious. Lots of walking and running paths. Not very many campers. Well maintained.

We rented a pontoon boat for the first time today (8/20) and had a fantastic experience. Pretty much all thanks to the guys running the place. They were unbelievable! So friendly and helpful. Took all of our stuff (cooler, rods, gear, you name it) to the boat so all we had to worry about was paying and getting our two... More

The park and beautiful and clean with wide paths everywhere, picnic areas spread throughout the facility as well as clean and spacious restrooms. The boat rentals were decently priced although we chose not to rent one so i don't have much to say on that. It's truly a place to spend the day relaxed, play a game of volleyball, take... More

Great place to find a quiet spot, plant a camp chair and take in the scenery. Beach area looked fun. Also places to rent boats and camp.
