Lots to see here. Great views of the NYC skyline! Lots of walking trails. I especially enjoyed the Empty Sky memorial and the old train terminal. There are bathroom facilities available and there was lots of parking on the day we visited.

Just in front of buttery Park to see the liberty tower and the other icons of Manhattan skyscrapers. Between the sky and the mirrors the monument at the 9/11.

After returning from the ferry ride, my husband, daughter & I hung around to take pics of the Manhattan skyline at night. Beautiful site! Police do frequent the area often. It was kind of chilly, but many joggers out there.

You might have to call the Liberty State Park office for reservation and registration for the picnic area, no fee. I don’t think they can accommodate 500 people though. I believe maximum is 50 people.
