Wonderful and very accessible location in a great setting. Hearty food, very well done. Friendly service. Great place to start walks from. Would love to go again.

Then it's possible to go higher: follow a stream (there are some blue marks on rocks), then in the grass higher up, and you end up on a path that is actually on the Spanish... More

Starting point of many excellent walks. Small place to stay or have a drink. Parking place is filling up quickly during the day, so come early

My boyfriend and I drove up to l'Hospice de France yesterday morning and did a lovely walk up to the Col de Glere. Beautiful, cool woodland path to start opening up into the lush green valley with stunning mountain views. The walks are varied and signposted and we saw a range of (mostly French) visitors incl. young families and older... More

We didn't go into the Hospice itself, but the trails are well marked, and the mountains so lush and beautiful that the trails demand to be followed! Some short, some long - go for a wander or a serious hike. Wow. The Pyrenees fill... More

We did Hike #23 counter clockwise crossing over the Port Vénasque, traversing along the Spanish border along the backside, crossing over the saddle at Pas de l'Escalette, and back down the valley to the refuge. It was... More

Ended up here by accident. Had met a couple the night before who said this was the best hiking they had done in their life. We were planning for an early start on our motorcycles, but went up to Hospice de France first, and had the best hike of OUR lives. There were many to choose from- we did #21... More
