Our room was beach/ocean front with a balcony so the beach was our view. Never too crowded which made it very relaxing

Ocean City Beach is a clean beach with a wide, fun boardwalk. Nearly everything (arcades, amusement, restaurants, ice cream, booths, shopping) is open and it's a really charming area. The amusements are expensive ($5 per person for a short ride) but fine for all ages. Arcades are cheap compared to similar arcades at Point Pleasant Beach and other Jersey Shore beaches. One problem is that no one is enforcing the COVID-19 mask rules within the amusement sections. Masks are mandatory in those sections, but masks are often pulled down, off to the side, sometimes off and staff members let that happen. Go at your own risk. On the boardwalk, where masks are not mandatory, I would say it's about 75% to 25%, non-mask vs. mask, which we as a family were comfortable with because we were not only outside, but properly spaced. Within the amusement sections, people were a little more tightly fit and of course, waiting in line for rides.

The beaches are well guarded and clean. You can rent umbrellas and chairs. The beach fees are reasonable.

Beaches were magnificent even during off-season. We went during September 2020 and they were still well maintained and cleaned on a daily basis. We walked stitches from 5th all the way to the end of the island at 58th street. Wonderful and relaxing. Lots of sand and plenty of room during these Covid times. Ocean City N.J. still has some of the best beaches in N. J.

Beach is swept daily and well patrolled. No smoking or animals are allowed on the beach. It is one of the cleanest beaches I’ve been to, due to lack of seaweed. Plenty of trash receptacles. Water is much warmer than further north on the East coast. Fun to see the dolphins. Great for surfing as well!
