I really enjoyed my visit. Debbie was a lively, interesting, and friendly tour guide. My ancestors were coal miners, so it meant a lot to me to see something of what their lives were like. I was very pleasantly surprised by the extensive collection of beautiful rocks and crystals! The glowing rocks were a thrilling sight. The statues all around... More

Zinc mines in New Jersey, Fluorescent Capitol of the World! Having grown up in New Jersey, I knew about mines in its northwest corner, one of the state's more beautiful areas. I only had knowledge of coal mining, mostly as seen in the movies and in the news. So I assumed it was dangerous being underground regardless of the mining... More

Great time by all. Very informative and interesting from start to finish Debbie our tour guide was exceptional, friendly and great with all the kids, especially the cub scouts. She went out of her way to help my wife choose some minerals that glow under ultra violet light. She didn't have to do that but it's things like that which will bring... More

The tour is nice and lots of stuff on display in the museum buildings and tons of fluorescent rocks. Really beautiful. Spend an hour or two gathering your own rock specimens at the rockpile.

We were looking for something to do on a sunday (2 kids, ages 4 and 6) and stumbled upon this mining museum. It was a beautiful drive up and when we arrived we weren't sure what to expect. The girls loved the first part of the tour and the scavenger hunt really engages. The actual mine tour is so so... More

Spent about 1/2 a day there. Went early to "mine" for our own rocks. My kids are 8 and 10 so we could only go in an open area called the "Dump". Also, went on a tour, bring a sweater and wear closed toes shoes. Gift shop has a lot and not too pricey. I got myself a really cute... More

I was not sure how a 2 hour tour was going to go over with my 7 & 5 year children. I should not have worried....they had a blast!!! We started the tour off in the exhibit hall that houses their vast collection of minerals.....the children participated in the scavenger hunt, which kept them engaged. We then ventured with our...
