Extremely well presented museum, on the site of a steel cable and wire mill. The museum focuses on Roebling’s suspension bridges, the Roebling family, industrial history and social history (the town of Roebling was a company town). The site is an EPA Superfund site, so...More

Roebling was the factory town that produced the cables that hold up suspension bridges such as the Brooklyn, George Washington and Golden Gate. The factory main gate where employees began their work day is one of the only factory buildings still standing. This building now...More

Bridge maker, steel maker, inventor of the cable-type suspension manufacturing at the turn of the 20th century. From California to New York, you can find Roebling bridges. Also ask about the Titanic connection with the Roebling family.

Like Batsto,NJ and even more so Smithville Park,NJ - Roebling can be added to a "must see" list for New Jersey history lovers. 1.2-square-mile town was created in the very beginning of 20th century completely from scratch by the company of a well known industrialist...More

This is a very well done, albeit small museum. It gives a fascinating view into the Company Town life of the early 1900's by the family that built the Brooklyn Bridge, the George Washington Bridge and a number of other suspension bridges. You only need...More

The museum traces the history of the Roebling Wire Works and the people who worked there. The great suspension bridges from the Brooklyn Bridge through the Golden Gate were built with cables from this facility. The working families and life in the planned town of...More
