we went after season and were pleasantly surprised to find life guards on the beach. the beaches were soft and clean. there were plenty of nice shells to find as you walked up and down as well.

Shipbottom has a great beach. It's not too crowded and not a huge party scene. The ocean was lovely. We saw dolphins!

Beach passes are $7 for one day and $20 for the week. The people are pretty strict about checking badges.

I have only had a problem once about 5 years ago. Prior to 2012 a few of my summer tenants in Holgate complained. I hear it has not been much of a problem since then.
