The Somers Mansion in Somers Point is the original home of the Richard Somers family. It is the headquarters of the Somers Point Historical Society. It is fascinating to go through the history of Southern New Jersey and who helped shape our area. Many artifacts and information is available. Richard Somers died at the Battle of Tripoli and the society is still trying obtain his remains to be able to bury him in the family plot. …

The tour guide was very informative regarding the mansion and the Somers family. The mansion is decorated with period 1700s furniture. Not a lot of time is needed to tour the mansion, but it is worth the stop. No photography is permitted inside. after visiting the mansion I did a little more research about the mansion on my own. It's the oldest intact house in Atlantic county.…

One can't miss this place driving around the area to get in and out of OC. It's more like a rainy day activity then a focal point of a trip. However you can roam around it and look back at history of the area and say you have been there done that!
