We visited today on the recommendation that it had a great area for children to play in. Well we certainly were not disappointed. Such a beautiful setting with a fabulous play area where the child minders do everything to keep your little ones entertained. Service was unintrusive and consistent and the meal was lovely. Children's menu and presentation of the... More

The setting, the food and wine and the peaceful atmosphere at the Franschhoek cellar is undoubtedly unbeatable and the best value for money in the Western Cape. Peet Neethling.

I'm a local and brought my friend from Cape Town to an establishment I like and have frequently visited. The day was saved from disaster by manager, Zandile and our waitron, Jaco. The wait for our food was at least 45 minutes. On arrival the burgers were cold and the salad a total mess. We sent the food back. The... More

Walked over to the cellars for a taste of the Semillion recommended by to me by a member of a UK Wine Society. Glad we did as Franschhoek Cellar Semellion is a delicious wine and well worth a glass or two. Very friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere! Thank you!

Good reasonably priced food selection and good wines to be enjoyed in the picturesque gardens - a novelty being the train where you can enjoy your meal when the weather is'nt great

A lovely mix of modern and traditional - even incorporating the old station as a cafe. The staff of really friendly and helpful and the charcuterie board we had was marvelous.

As we have a 3 year old, our dining experiences now have play areas as a top priority. The Franschhoek cellar has an enclosed, shaded, staffed plastic jungle gym, mini bikes, art tables next to dining areas. Great for a relaxed afternoon. Lovely attentive staff too. Recommend for relaxed venue where children can play.

We visited the Franschhoek Wine Cellar and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, though that was likely due to the amount of wine consumed. The tastings are decently priced, and the wine and cheese pairing is quite good. Visitors need to bear in mind that this is a cellar only and does not have any vineyards of its own (so it buys grapes... More

Great open space outside area next to the kids play area. The area is enclosed for the children's safety, and is covered from the sun. Lots for the kids to do. Food is really good! I highly recommend the pork belly or the veggie burger for vegetarians. I ordered the Spaghetti bolognese for my niece and she loved it. Very... More

The wines were not good at all. Cheap and cheerful. If that's what you like then I'd suggest visiting this co-op wine farm. Their cheeses are also bog standard. There are much better wine estates to visit in Franschhoek.
