Nice memorial museum. Peace and tranquility in the middle of a busy tourist town. The museum is a little old fashioned, but well maintained and interesting. The gardens and memorial itself are a delight for a quiet walk. they are full of birds and insects and beautiful flowers. the white roses are a particular delight in the summertime.

On arrival we were greeted by a gentleman with great knowledge who gave us a detailed briefing before we started our walk around.

Not somewhere that you would normally find myself, but this is definitely worth a visit. Not just the museum, but take a walk around the gardens to the memorial which is breathtaking. I really enjoyed our short time here, and it made me look into the past a little more so that I could understand it better. A joy after... More

The content in the museum is interesting but it needs to be modernised and presented in a more user friendly way.

It is good to know the saga of this people. They have been the builder of Stellenbosch, and specially the good wine tradition. All the African Continent shows the marks of the presence and work of the Huguenots. Calvinist that where persecuted in France and fleet to others countries. University, good restaurants, etc.

A stunning garden monument to the 250 French Huguenot settlers who founded Franschhoek. Amazingly impressive that they were able to make the place work.

If you into history you should surely visit but it doesn't offer too much.... If you do visit though make sure you watch the 10-12 minute video on the history of the Huguenot's and Franschhoek....

Beautifully kept and nicely displayed. It is a small collection but worth a visit if you are a history buff, but go to the monument afterwards and it should all click into place.

I have made several visits to the museum over the years and it never fails to impress. The true history of the first European settlers in the Cape is captured in its context of religious persecution in France. The names of so many of the original families make up modern South Africa. The supporting furniture, artefacts and pictures are carefully... More
