Prior to visiting the cheetah outreach center, I asked a friend of mine who is a wildlife veterinarian to look into the program. He was able to confidently recommend this place as an ethical and humane operation, based on his research and contacts in the field. With that in mind, we were thrilled to be able to visit this center.... More

I just love the Cheetah Outreach in Somerset West. The whole idea of saving wildlife and making these animals accessible to the general public gets a resounding YES and THUMBS UP from me. The area is perfect and the additional breeding and rescue programs that forms part of the center is great. You also have viewing access to dogs, other... More

This is a really worthy cause and a great place to visit! They have several different species there but the main attraction is the cheetahs where you can get hands on and touch them. Everything is done on the cheetahs terms with a view to educating people about the animals and how best to protect them (no exploitation, the animals... More

Their intentions are seemingly good but I am not overly impressed with this set up. It appears to me that the majority of the operations are run by foreigners, albeit well trained, polite and hard working. Are they volunteers? The entrance fee is nominal but the cost for each "pat" or animal interaction is excessive. I take great exception to... More

The premise of this program is brilliant. In order to promote cheetah conservation, they are using the proceeds to breed Anatolian Shepherd Dogs to give to farmers who are losing their stock to cheetahs. These dogs protect the livestock, without killing the cheetahs. Yes, it's true that you will not be snuggling baby cheetahs, and will only be able to... More

I took two British tourists, as they were desperate to see "wild" animals. What a disappointment...Our German speaking "guide" who will remain anonymous...as she was a volunteer, was a bit "bossy" and was not very understanding that we "the visitor" did not know what to do...We could not stroke the cheetah too hard and just in the one place. Just... More

If you want to learn more about these beautiful creatures and get up close a personal with one, I definitely recommend this venue. Even our teenage boy loved it! 😂

Visit this place for more information on what they are doing for our wildlife and the rehabilitation of the animals. It is very educational and the best place to take the young children to start learning about nature and the animals
