The USS Liberty Wreck is the most famous dive site in Bali. It is also one of the best sunken ship wrecks in the world! If you come to Bali, you absolutely have to dive there The liberty ship was hit by a Japanese torpedo then was beached near Tulamben. In 1963, the eruption of Mount Agung caused the vessel to slip off the beach, and it now lies on a sand slope in 9 to 30 m of water. The wreck is about 130 m long with the shallowest part at about 5 m deep and the deepest on the other side of the wreck at about 30 m deep.

...even if you don't recognise too much of the ship anymore, as it is fully covered with corals. Nice hiding places for murrays and bumpheads. Make sure you go for a night dive.

Shipwreck dive is not common in other diving suit, here your may see bumphead parrotfish in morning dive and micro marine life in night dive. Had done 3 dives there in differ days, early morning dive, morning dive and my first night dive.

We completed an early morning and a night dive of the wreck. Highly recommend both. It's completely different. The night dive was amazing and by far more exciting. The wreck itself is easily accessible from the village where there are loads of dive shops to...More

The liberty wreck is a pretty easy dive starting at some 10 meters and going down to around 25. Plenty of life and rather stunning underwater views of the uss liberty, pushed to the see by lava after the 1963 eruption of Gunang Agung

No current and decent visibility when I dived. Nice wreck with lots of coral and fish. Lots to see at all levels.

Whatever you hear about the crowds, trust me there is enough place for everyone. The shipwreck starts at 3 mtrs from the surface and goes down to 30mtrs deep. The ship is 120 mtrs long, so enough space for as many divers as can come....More

As the wreck is located in a shallow water and accessible from the beach it is a perfect object for beginning divers. At the place where it can be entered, there is a nice resort with toilets, showers, drink/food. When diving you can expect a...More

I started my dive at 8am and there were 2 vans in the car park when we arrived. More and more divers appeared during the dive and by the time we surfaced around 9am, there were maybe 8 vans. I imagine it gets even busier...More

We had an early morning dive - around 6am - at this great dive site. It is probably one of the bests dives we had in Bali since we were able to see the massive bump head parrot fishes come out of the wreck to...More

Yes you can. I stayed at the ocean sun resort and could hire snorkel and dive gear from the resort. I’m pretty sure you had to go out with a guide though.

Yes/No. If not certified then you will have to do a "Try dive/Discover Scuba" course. This is an all day affair and involves some theory and pool work before diving. You will then dive with an instructor to a max 12m. The... More
