one of the most poignant places to visit. the history of this 700 palace is astounding. From bringing a bride from Tibet, to the jails, and to the execution tower. the palace tells of waves of conquests from hindus to mongols to the british. Unbelievable.

Altit fort is the oldest fort made by the early Mir's. Most of the structure is in genuine shape, facing to the mighty lady finger mountain that is still to be conquered by any climber. Hunza itself as well its rich and old culture leave a special effect on your experience. Very cooperative people and extremely nice place to have... More

A very old fort that is located on a steep cliff. It's balconies provide excellent view of Karakoram Highway. The site has been well maintained, courtesy Agha Khan Foundation. The narrow street leading to the fort is picturesque too and has nice handicraft and gemstone shop alongwith a large size bathing pond. Though the exterior of the fort is quite... More

As well as an interesting insight into the lives of the previous rulers of Karimabad and the Hunza valley this fort has the most stunning views of the Hunza valley and the aquamarine waters of the river flowing past. It is also worth walking around the restored buildings of the community below the fort as well as visiting the cafe... More

If you are in Hunza then you must visit both Altit and Baltit fort- they are both very different with equally great views of the area. Adventure Planners Pakistan arranged a trip to the fort and surrounding area. The guide at the fort had brilliant English and was very knowledgeable about the history of the region, very interesting!
