It will will be a journey that will leave you hungry for more :)<br>On this tour you'll have a chance to get in the roller coaster of time, flying back and forth thousands of years through Albania's history and culture. Its amazing to see how Albania has coexisted and triumphed in tragedy in the shadows of Titans of the time like the Roman Empire, Byzantines and Ottomans.

Superlative castle with amazing views. Settlement is big enough to get lost in. Ethnographic museum is a must and the view from the north side down to the small church (sadly locked) is stunning. Nice steep walk up to the castle and a couple of good cafes at the entrance and one at the furthest end.

Went here to get to the restaurant inside the castle. After our meal, we went on a walking tour around the castle. There are many restaurant choices inside the castle There were a lot of steep hill but the view at the top is worth it. There’s also a museum inside but we didn’t get to it. There were little souvenir shops along the walking path. Parking is free and there’s an entrance fee for adults to get inside the castle but kids are free. I think it’s a great place worth a visit when you’re in Berat.

Berat castle is absolutely beautiful. I have spent probably 9 hours in total wandering around it so far, and each time I find something new to see. Cafe Temi is my favorite place to eat, and don't miss the Onufri museum!

We visited the Berat Castle in October. The entrance fee was 300 All but comparing to the rest of attractions in Albania, It is not worth the money. Once you pay your ticket, you don't get any directions or anything isn't open inside the Castle. It gives you the idea of a local market where people try to sell you stuff, more than the impression of an historical place. It is supposed to have the museum and a couple of churches which all of them were closed. To go to toilet you need to sit in a bar and buy a drink than you can use their restroom. Not clear why you need to pay since its absolutely nothing opened or doesnt fulfill the minimum requirements to be called a city attraction. Disappointed by it.

Berat castle rises up the steep hill above the town. We went there self driving by car, and there's a parking lot just in front of the gate. If not having your own car I suggest taking a taxi, as if going up on foot be prepared for a heavy climb (specially during summer heat). As in most such sites in Albania, the entrance fee is cheap - few Euros. The castle dates back to 4c BC first occupied by Greeks and then Romans, but most of the remains you see today are from the Byzantine and Ottoman era. Remains of the white and red mosques are not to be missed, as well the Holy Trinity Church and iconographic museum. People still live there within the castle which adds to a real authentic atmosphere. Views from the watchtower (where's the big Albanian flag) are breathtaking, and that's why I suggest coming here first - to understand the town and suroundings layout. Count on around 2 hrs for a proper visit including a break at one of authentic cafes/restaurants up there.
