While driving to Cimarron, we had the chance to stop at several places along the river, both for hiking and picnicking. Very pleasant area in the canyon. The Palisades is a must stop for viewing or picnic.

We always plan to take a few minutes to stop along the Cimarron River as we make the drive from Texas to our home in Angel Fire. The scenery is great and a short walk along the river is peaceful.

This is a great trout stream. Also great for putting your feet into. If you go fishing be sure you have a license. The lower part flows through Philmont Scout Ranch and parking along this section is prohibited.

I visited Cimmaron and Eagle's Nest every singer growing up. It's so beautiful! The locals are nice. The town of Eagle's Nest has grown a little, but not enough to detract from the landscape. They have a wonderful Subway, great fishing, fun ships, and lots...More

Lovely spot to sit and relax! Watch the fish in the water. Fish if you like. Be sure to have a New Mexico Day Use Pass if you're in the state park area. (Big fine if you don't.)
