Overview
More
A wildlife preserve and "enhanced zoo" located just 20 minutes from Albuquerque, New Mexico in nearby Edgewood. Conveniently located near Interstate 40 and Route 66. Wildlife West Nature Park provides a very special look into the animals and plants that are part of the ecosystems of New Mexico and the Southwestern United States. All the birds and animals at Wildlife West Nature Park are non-releasable, keeping with our philosophy of bringing education to the public without harming ecological balances in other parts of the region. Our habitats are designed to provide the best possible combination of viewing opportunities and harmonious living for our residents, and our animal enrichment programs ensure that our animals are both physically and mentally healthy.

First off, the sign that says Zoo is misleading. This is not a zoo in the traditional sense. It could be disappointing for someone expecting that type of experience. That said, the mission of the nature park is wonderful. The birds and animals here have...More

We are Harvest Host members and Wildlife West is part of the Harvest Host network. After spending the night in our trailer in the gravel parking lot, I ventured into the park. Wildlife West is full of New Mexico native animals who, for one reason...More

This little sanctuary for rescued animals was a wonderful place to visit. I love that the signage for each animal has that animals story as to how and why it ended up at this rescue. For being a place that is run on donations solely,...More

I think I'm like many people in that I'm not a huge fan of most zoos. However, I understand there are animals and birds that need a safe place to live because they have been injured or become too comfortable around people and can't survive...More

I'll start by confessing I'm not a fan of zoos. This place is different and is not a zoo of course; it's a sanctuary, but it's still animals intended to be free inside enclosures. Most animals are rescues, either due to injury or because they...More

We've been out here several times over the years, and it's still enjoyable for the whole family! This is a wildlife rescue organization that opens up a place for native animals that are injured, available for breeding efforts, or simply to save one from euthanasia....More

The events are just great, you get to view the animals, have a wonderful dinner and then the entertainment. It is a great way to spend an inexpensive evening and help out the wild animals as well. Good Cause.
