This was an interesting place to visit for history of New Mexico, but the state closed the facility due to lack of visitors. We took our 4th graders every year for Cinco de Mayo.

Sadly, this wonderful museum is permanently closed according to the latest online newsletter. "Budget issues" was the only explanation. Artifacts that had been housed are being dispersed. This is such a sin! The museum was unique in every way. We visited at least twice yearly...More

This museum/visitor center is extremely well done. It is architecturally beautiful with stunning views of the desert panorama. The displays are high quality and give the patient visitor a good feeling for this history of New Mexico.

Who knew? A 400 year old highway. This is historically significant to the western US. A lot of reading, no hiking or driving. Small entrance fee unless you fit one of the excluded categories. Stop if you are in the area. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Good museum telling the history and development of the area. I agree with other reviewers a few of the exhibits are dark and hard to read. Overall a good and interesting museum. I watched the video before touring the museum which was helpful. I learned...More
