The museum has been affiliated with the University of New Mexico since 1935, and it now boasts the internationally acclaimed Agnes Martin Gallery, galleries exhibiting highlights from the museum's collection of work by the Taos Society of Artists, Taos Moderns, Hispanic Traditions, and contemporary artists working in Taos, and changing exhibitions fulfilling the Harwood's vision to "Bring Taos Arts to the World and World Arts to Taos."

Worth a visit, especially if you are into modern art, as the current exhibit is slanted heavily that way. Beautifully appointed museum.

The Harwood Museum is the perfect place to see contemporary art that is influenced by the rich local cultures. Their collection is outstanding, and the exhibitions rotate to highlight various themes in modern art. It's a great place to learn about how Taos became an internationally known art colony in the 19th century. The Agnes Martin room is a must... More

We love museums and I certainly believe you should go while you are in Taos. The exhibit space is excellent and the various galleries are nicely sized and the art is well displayed. So what is not to like? The art is numbered and you are presented with a set of pages for each gallery and a map. In each... More

My second visit to the Harwood Museum did not disappoint. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. The museum is laid out so nicely, and you can spend as much or as little time as you like. The Agnes Martin room is a wonderful room in which to sit and reflect as you admire her artwork. This museum is what... More

We went to see their exhibit on Mable Dodge Luhan. It was very good and informative. They also included art and information about some in her close circle.

I recently visited the Harwood for the first time after many trips to Taos. The draw this trip is an exhibit highlighting Mabel Dodge Luhan and the impact she had on bringing artists like Blumenschein, Couse, Sharpe, etc of Taos art colony. She also was a good friend of Georgia O'Keefe's. The exhibit is really well done and not to... More

The current special exhibition relating to Mable Dodge Lujan is excellent. If you miss it in Taos you can see it in Albuquerque in late Oct.

New Exhibit on Mabel Dodge Lujan and the artists she attracted to NM in the early 1900s from around the world is fascinating. Chronologically arranged, it is sometimes a still a bit hard to follow. Would be best enjoyed with a docent assisting in the various schools of art and poetry represented. Lovely hour immersed in NM history. Very enjoyable.
