With an open mind you will find much to think about

So, maybe it is a bit like the hobbits of Shire relocated to the high dessert of New Mexico, but it is worth a visit. The admission cost is moderate and the time you will spend... read more

The building and systems concepts were what fascinated me. I live in NM, so it's common totalk passive solar and consider the environment. Yet, few builders embrace the systems promoted here, and I don't know why (probably because it requires a little more planning and land). But, I was impressed with how in tune with Nature these homes were and... More

So, maybe it is a bit like the hobbits of Shire relocated to the high dessert of New Mexico, but it is worth a visit. The admission cost is moderate and the time you will spend there is also perhaps moderate. But actually seeing buildings and life style options this close to sustainability is a real opportunity. Also, I was... More

I love earthships, but the tour was a huge let down. We paid $15 for the two of us to walk through an office building type of earthship and watch a video. The documentary we already watched (Garbage Warrior) was much better than this experience. I wouldn't have been so disappointed had they charged $1 each because I think that... More

Don't miss this unique stop in Taos! Interesting, sustainable architecture, very cool! Fun to learn about and check out the layout. We especially loved the built in greenhouse. They offer a student discount which saved us a few bucks.

When friends come to visit me I always take them to the Earthships. These are so beautiful, unique, and environmentally appropriate. It's mind blowing.

Wish the tour offered more but the video was very informative. Wish we could have seen more of what they offered. The home is now an attraction and shows what could / can be done but the neighborhood there is so much more but you can't go in residential areas. Homes can be $400,000... WOW! It was $7 and offered... More

We had the pleasure of staying in an Earthship and felt like we should learn more about the process and design. The museum is a neat place to learn about what it takes to build an Earthship and how they are being used around the world. Don't miss the 10 minute video because you can learn a lot in just... This is a great place to check out if you are in the Taos area. Amazing architecture and a wonderful example of going green. Set up so you can really see how these houses are constructed and what materials are used.

We saw these online and decided to stop in for a tour. It was $23 dollars for my family (2 adults, 2 children), and the tour only includes the main office, not an actual home. 10 minutes tops. If it did include more, the woman at the front did not tell us so. She gave us visitor badges and walked... More

I have toured the Earthships multiple times and each time the group has been amazed! I would definitely recommend taking the full tour. Every tour begins at the Visitor Center where they explain how the various systems of the Earthship function (triple-recycling of water, thermal heating/cooling, etc.). If you go for the full tour, they will then take you to... More
