Decided to drive outside town a bit to see this place. Been to other sites in other parts of the country, but have never seen such a concentration of petroglyphs in such a condensed area.

This place is awesome to connect with the past and take a hike to see these ancient pictures carved into the rocks. Great Place for the homeschooling family to connect with some things they learn in history and native americans.

Fantastic Native American site managed by the BLM to preserve a 600 year span of Jornado Indian drawings carved into lava rock. There is a nice tourist center and Gary is a great docent who told us all about the area. The one mile trail...More

Amazing place. Picture yourself in a valley in the centre of distant mountain ridges. Park your vehicle in over 100 degrees heath. I followed the hiking trail for five minutes and there was the greatest collection of rock art I had seen in years (and...More

One thing to be well aware of is rattle snakes, no matter the season or temp. Just stay calm and be aware they are known to be in area.
