Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, with its splendid Greek Revival interiors, is tucked away in a lovely, quiet corner of Pelham Bay Park - an area that was once home to more than 20 elegant country estates. As the only grand country house still in existence on Pelham Bay, it provides an important link to the social and architectural history of New York. Visitors are welcome to take a guided tour of the mansion and view our impressive collection of mid-19th century furnishings and fine and decorative arts. Or stroll around the grounds and the formal terraced garden behind the house.

This was our second visit to this mansion and very enjoyable. If you like historic houses then this is for you. You can learn about the history of the residents and their influence on the local place-names and development. The furnishings aren't original and it's small but still really interesting. The house is gorgeous and the back garden is the... More

The guides were very knowledgeable. The rooms were all decorated nicely for the Christmas Holiday. The grounds are well kept.

The day we went the house was closed for a private event, check the website before you go! The gardens, however, were beautiful in spring, there were tulips and wildflowers everywhere and lilacs. Definitely worth a visit!

The place around is very beautiful specially to take wedding pictures. The history of the museum and all the artifact is incredible, it sent you back in time and gives you the experience if you were actually there.

The Bartow-Pell Mansion "house museum" in the park is a bit difficult to get to by public transport (a rarity in New York City!); the only bus that passes here is one from Westchester County, which doesn't accept time-limited (unlimited) MetroCards, and if you arrive by City bus, you'll have to walk a bit in the park, which is pleasant... In a far out section of the bronx sits this mansion/museum. I think the price $5 for adults to enter the museum. I skipped that and focused more on the ground. The house while does not seem like much of a museum. I think the draw are the grounds. There are trails (believe me stick to them there are thorn... More

A delightful recreation of old times right in New York City in the back woods of the Bronx. The house has been restored to its splendor of the 1840s. Vintage furnishings and costumed attendants make for a wonder family experience.

This beautiful mansion and carriage house are well worth a visit. The house is from 1836 and is now owned by the NYC Parks Department. Love the 19th century furnishings. Check out the magnificent embroidery hanging on the walls upstairs. The grounds are lovely, too. Part of Pelham Bay Park. Saw a wild turkey in the woods on the way... More

Lovely grounds, with great views of Pelham Bay and the surround marshlands. Some unknown New York City history here, dating back to the original settlements. Beautiful gardens. The house itself is great, but does not have the original furniture. The sun room is decadent.
