Went to the Bronx Zoo on Sunday, Jan 17th. Truly heart breaking how they keep these animals isolated in small enclosures. I saw the foxes showing distress by pacing back and forth over and over again. They had one single cheetah in a glass enclosure all by itself alone pacing back and forth on top of a branch. I saw two rhinos enclosed in a glass area with no room to run. They had one single monkey in one enclosure. Large birds have not room to fly. Most of the animals have no room to run and be the wild animals they are. Others were alone with no partner. Living their entire life alone in a glass enclosure as if they were garments!! Truly heart breaking. WISH SOMEONE WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PLACE AND CLOSE IT DOWN. THEY ARE CRUEL TO ANIMALS. REMOVE THE ANIMALS AND PUT THEM IN A WILDLIFE SANCTUARY.

I went to the Bronx Zoo on the last night of the Holiday Lights on a whim. The tickets had been discounted by 30% and I thought why not? I am so glad that I went. It was an amazing show to walk around. It really was a beautiful display of lights, music, activities like ice sculpture and comics performing and the restaurants were all open to the guests. Since it was the last night, it was busier early in the evening but by 9:00pm, it started to quiet down. The lights took up much of the park and I almost missed the back section of the zoo when I went down a different path by the seal tanks towards the original part of the zoo. They had a musical Christmas tree and zebras on silts, costume characters taking pictures and white lights that adorned all the trees. There were all sorts of animals sculptures that lit the way along the paths and all sorts of contemporary Christmas songs were being played. Even though Christmas was over and the Epiphany had passed, the lights really put me back into the holiday spirit and with it being such a rough Christmas this year, it was nice to have a bit of holiday cheer still come my way. It was a GREAT evening!

we paid the membership to be able to do all activities, due to the weather most of them aren't working but regardless of that is a great day trip especially in winter

Unfortunately this review is not good. I normally love the bronx zoo. we attempted the holiday lights tonight for my son's bday and it was quite literally a zoo. Even with timed tickets the place was packed. No one was controlling anything. We have done a lot during Covid-19 but this was by far the worst we have experienced. No one felt safe. Bumper to bumper people. No one was socially distancing. We had to skip a lot due to crowds. I'm not sure what I expected but it wasn't that. Do not recommend this year if you are abiding by CDC guidelines. Lights are beautiful and I would love to go back next year. Just wish I didn't feel so uncomfortable this year.

Visited back in March 2019. Got there by subway and got off at Pelham Parkway. It’s a bit of a walk to the zoo getting off at that station but there are some fantastic shops and food outlets on White Plains Road. My advice is take food with you to the zoo as the food their wasn’t great and wasn’t cheap. The zoo itself is a great day out and is spacious. Unfortunately I didn’t get there as early as I wanted to so didn’t get to see all the exhibits. The gorilla exhibit was amazing and I would defiantly return again next time I visit New York
